Day 15: Whoaa We’re Half Way There O-oh Living On A Wholeo

I fell asleep writing the blog last night. Weekends are too short and I feel I need to stretch them out by staying up as late as possible. To the point where I fall asleep on the couch and wake up and shift into bed.

The blog last night wasn’t good, so I’m starting over. I feel like I had a point to write about yesterday but I can’t remember it today.

We did walk after work yesterday. I really didn’t want to because I was in a bad mood. I was starving for most of the day, despite having eaten. I went to chipotle for lunch because I didn’t pack one. Everyone else ordered from Potbelly’s but I didn’t want a salad and a dry one at that. Yet I got a salad from chipotle. Greens, chicken, black beans, pico and guac.

I had breakfast as per usual but at 10 I was getting hangry. I ate at 11 and still didn’t feel full, but my body’s needs in terms of fuel had been met. By 3 o’clock I just wanted to go home and start my weekend. However, my coworker messaged me “we’re still walking right?” And it’s hard to say nah.

Obviously I’m glad we did go. It is getting so much easier on my body. Since I ate at 11 and had a few almonds as a snack after our walk ended at 5:30 (we get to leave a little early on Fridays if we’re not busy) I should have gone home and eaten straight away.

After the walk we were standing by our cars finishing our conversation and all of a sudden I got super light headed and felt like puking. I had to excuse myself quickly to the car so that I could sit down. I turned my car on and blasted the AC. I switched from sneakers to flip flops because a) I always do that because I hate wearing shoes and b) I needed the heat to escape. I also had a banana and some cold water in the car so I snacked on that.

I felt almost immediately better, the Texas heat is no joke. You literally get baked while you are outside. When I got home I relaxed for a bit on the couch then decided to jump into the shower to regulate my body temperature and get that part over with anyway. When I got out I realized that if I was gonna run errands I needed to do it then.

I didn’t want to get caught in the rain and wanted to buy a new board for the art project that didn’t turn out well last weekend. I also needed a few groceries.

I got dressed again and headed out, it was already 7. On my way to Lowe’s it started raining. The wind was crazy and it really felt like a storm, I wanted to be home for the storm so I could open my sliding glass door and listen to the rain as I sit on the couch in safety and comfort.

However, the plan today is to not leave the apartment. I cleaned out my fridge yesterday of all the foods gone bad. I definitely felt wasteful throwing out some broccoli and a zucchini, the berries that turned squishynand other foods that I just didn’t eat enough, quick enough.

After I cleaned out the fridge and took out the trash I put the new groceries in and began to cook dinner. While the pan was warming I started putting the dishes in the dishwasher. I don’t use it often, but I have all glass Tupperware and it makes it so easy to do dishes at the end of the week. Then I have plenty of containers to transport food to work.

For dinner, I just threw in some of the rotisserie chicken, which is pretty much done, some mushrooms and some black beans with both red and green salsa. It was so delicious and only a few minutes to make. I had debated eating because it was so late at that point, about 9:45, but I knew I didn’t have near enough calories in me.

I miss the convenience of unhealthy food. Grabbing things on the go or picking something up quickly definitely comes in handy. However, after every homemade meal I feel good. My body feels good. It does feel like fuel and that’s the goal.

There wasn’t a lot of substance, not enough greens as filler. But that’s what the fat/protein is for too.

  1. Duffy–Have you ever used Debbie’s Green Bags for your produce? They are an “As seen on TV” item that really works. I can buy a big bag of apples at Sam’s, put them in a large Debbie’s and they will stay crisp and sweet for 3 weeks. Same with blueberries, strawberries, oranges, etc. Maybe a little less time with the latter. Saves money and I don’t feel like I am wasting food.
Good post. Sounds like you are making progress. Stay the course!

Go ahead, say it...
